In my AS level duet thing, I am doing Sicillienne duet with a guitar player, but the thing is, the way he has photocopied it for me (i understand this is legal if i only have one copy for rehersal purposes only) is has 8 pages in the book, so the first page on the photocopy is an A4 piece, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th pages are A3 and 4th page is A4. Its really awkward because the page turns are in the middle of my phrases... How can I get round this?

Otherwise it will be:
1. Half the phrase
2. *Rustle of paper*
3. The rest of the phrase

Thanks

Memorise the entire phrase, and turn before or after it

Copyright is a minefield. I think that practice/rehearsal is one thing and performance is another, and AFAIK it isn't legal to perform a copyright work from a photocopy. It's OK to have an odd page of photocopy to avoid an impossible page turn. I don't know what instrument you play, but if the piece is published with just a single copy for both players I assume the intention was that you would play off the same one. Are the original page turns organised so that one player is resting and can do the page turns while the other plays? Perhaps you could borrow a second printed copy from another player or a library if it isn't practical for you both to play off the same one?

When I'm working from photocopies I normally have A4 sheets in plastic pockets in a ring binder, which I find a lot easier than coping with loose sheets. I assume you could cut your A3 sheets in half if you wanted to do this, or just fold them, depending on where you want the page turns to come.
