We've loved Sweet Lorraine on the Gd 3 list and Stormy Weather on the old Gd 4 list, as well as A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square in What Else Can I Play Gd 4 and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes in Jazz Blues and Ragtime...

Any more good ideas please?

And what would you call this kind of music??

I loved Sweet Lorraine too and played it in my exam biggrin.gif

I noticed on the 'alternative' list for Grade 4 'C' list there is a book of Scott Joplin music. That's Ragtime and I'm hoping to get it; I used to play Ragtime on the piano and loved it.

I'll try and find the name of the book and post it here later.

I'd call them standards. There are any number of 'Real books' that contain a selection of standards, or you could look at some of the Jamey Abersold playalongs, although those are mostly aimed at improvisers ...

I have a cool violin book for that kind of thing called Jazz, blues and ragtime arranged Edward Huws Jones.

It has a piano part and also an easy accompanying violin part.

It's not terribly difficult probably grade 3-4 ish, good fun.
