Stretto is italian, but means 'getting faster', so maybe isn't what you're looking for.

Perhaps accompagnato will do, although it usually means following the voice I think.

Learning listening online (we've bn told to use it) meaning of Stretto:Where voices or instruments enter very quickly one after the other, as in Fugue. Each entry or part enters closely after the previous part, thus adding tension and excitement

Isn't "colla voce" following the voice?

Thats in a singing style, so play it sweetly.

Maybe someone in the Viva Voice forum will know?
Mad Tom
Petrat already had it right.

accompagnato is the term you are looking for.

From Italy, now.
Yes, MadTom has it right. "Accompagnato" (though I believe this term is rarely used). "A cappella" (mind the double "p") means without an accompaniment- This word originally described the unaccompanied singing as it was heard in a chapel (that's what "cappella" means).

I PASSED THE NAB biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Well done! smile.gif NABs are tedious things, but I came to have a certain fondness for them in comparison to the real exams. tongue.gif
