Hi - i don't usually post on this bit of the forums (forii?) but i need some help!

My son has got his mouthpiece stuck in his trumpet. He has done this before but we can usually release it by running cold water over it - this time it's totally stuck and he is getting wound up about it.

Does anyone have any good advice?

many thanks

Have you tried hot water on the pipe and cold water (even better, ice) on the mouthpiece?

Hi - all sorted. We wrapped a flexible ice-pack around the mouthpiece and it finally came free.

Hopefully he will be less heavy-handed in the future.

Thanks for your help

Glad to hear it came free in the end.

We used to have a lot of trouble with clarinet pull-throughs getting stuck (there's a sticky-out bit inside the clarinet which seems specially designed to snag pull-throughs!) when my son was younger, but he eventually learned how to avoid the problem. Not before we'd had to make two special trips to Dawkes to remove the offending pull-through though!! tongue.gif

Hope your son swiftly learns how not to get his mouthpiece stuck!
