I have been reading these forums for a while and finally got round to registering!

I am a violin player, I have played since I was 8, getting lessons in school, but gave up when I went to university at seventeen, and didn't play at all for five years. However, I realised I missed it loads and I started playing again a little over a year ago, complete with lovely new (for me - it's a mid nineteenth century neuner and hornsteiner) violin to replace my scratchy Zeller which my friends loathed with a passion, and very recently a beautiful new pernambuco bow to replace the £15 thing I had had since I was thirteen.

Anyway, I look forward to posting on the forums!

Viva Strings is the place for string talk, there's a very active community of adult learners in the adult learners forum and if you fancy giving your violin some exercise at an event, check out the events forum, which is a link from the General Music Forum. For a supportive audience/musicians, the events organised by forumites are hard to beat. Next event is an orchestral playday in York on 21st February, or you can come as an audience member to Teddington on 7th February (PM katyjay for details).
