The trick is to stay in the air as long as you can (by double-clicking) to get a higher score whilst collecting the bonuses, but sometimes you do have to be patient.
I also managed to get 250 cars in a row just now, but failed to land on the last one

I think the trick is to drop under most of the birds rather than go over them.

Yes, because if you miss one of the bonuses, you can more or less get away with not having to land before the next one comes along as you're using less umbrella power.Car Expert
