Miss Ross
On my way to work/college every day, I have to use a road which is currently being dug up. There are about 20 workmen working (or standing watching) on this site. They like to watch you as you pass, which is slightly intimidating. Anyway...

Imagine you are one of these men. If you saw a rather young female - who you've seen every day for the past 4 weeks - slip on the snow and land sprawled in a funny - and unknown to you, painful - position with limbs all over the place, would you go and help? Or at least check if she's ok? Or, would you stand and laugh? ph34r.gif

Go and help.
Did they laugh then??

I'd wait a few moments, and if she did not get up and carry on then obviously I would go to check if she was hurt, and help if I could. I am guessing that these workmen laughed, and that you are (rightly) upset by it.

I would always rush to a lady in distress (of any age !).

I'd probably laugh AND help them. But then if I was the person that fell I'd laugh at myself too so I probably wouldn't mind them laughing.

Unless I would be too shy to help then I would probably laugh ph34r.gif I'm a horrible person blush.gif

I've never forgotten the reaction of a boyfriend of mine to my falling in the river during a punt party. Not only did he laugh, but he took a photo of me in the river before others helped me out! I was really mad with him at the time, but funnily enough, later I appreciated having the photo, so perhaps he did the right thing after all. tongue.gif

And although he wasn't the one I married, we are still in touch with him and his wife 35 years on.

Back on topic, I think you'd have had a much better chance of being helped if there'd been only 3 or 4 workmen. With a group of 20, no-one would want to risk being teased for the rest of the day for going forward.

So chivalry is still alive! biggrin.gif They did laugh, but I'm not upset really, just bemused. smile.gif

To be honest, I would normally laugh too but it really did hurt this time. ph34r.gif

I would go and help, naturally! Those construction louts better watch themselves next time I'm the other side of the border!!

Does it hurt less now, at least? smile.gif
