Hi Flossie. I had an image there of everyone independently thinking they would 'omit' the horrible note (thinking they would be the only one, and everyone else would play it) and nobody actually playing it

None of us played it, so there was a gap. But a gap was probably better than a screech.

The note in question was a trill from top Bb-C on flute (that's the ones on/above the the 5th ledger line above the treble clef stave). It had a diminuendo as well from sff down to pp

Now that's just plain silly! I'd substitute something altogether more do-able (like a shrill blast on one of those duck noise things!)
