Recently after I've started using a CODA Convservatory bow (light weight to it, one of the lower), I've started having problems with the bow getting very small bouncing on slow notes. Generally sustained notes (whole note holds) my bow starts getting small, rapid vibrations when I reach 1/2 to 2/3 of the length (towards the tip). Generally speaking, I only have the problems in 6th position or higher, 5th or lower I have no problems with bowing/vibrato. I've been playing 12 years or about, so most of my technique problems have been resolved.

Any suggestions for trying to correct this? I've had it suggested that my bow is mis-weighted, apparently CODA bows have this problem...

My only theory is that I've reached a low resonance frequency, or very close to it, where the oscillations are in phase. (something like m*lambda) Not sure how to correct it though..

Are you a mathematician? m*lamda looks like something out of eigensystems in matrix algebra.

As a practical matter, I suppose you can modify the behaviour of hand and arm to change damping and resonance frequency of the complete system by a small amount, but it might be easier to get a different bow. In what respect is your present bow superior to its predecessor?
