I am thinking of playing the piano again. I gave up a year ago becuase I became "stuck in a rut" and I was in that rut for about a year.
I have a friend who is going to help learn piano again but I am not sure what to play.
If this helps: I was about grade 3 before I gave up and I haven't played alot since.
Any advice welcome.

I'd recommend going back a grade or two for your first few pieces. It works better than trying to pick up where you left off. Don't be discouraged by this - you may find it saves time and frustration in the long run.
What sort of music do you like / want to play ?
One of the books graded at 1 - 2 might be a useful starting point.
Hope it goes well

I know the feeling
I'm a bit like that at the moment.. like i'm in a hole which just gets deeper.

I did the same. I really like Romantic pieces so I bought the ABRSM's Romantic Sketchbook for Piano for the grade below me and plodded through that - they do baroque and Classical books of the same type. I concentraded on getting a good repetoire at my level rather than improving for a bit.

I had my first lesson... It was great!!
I played Study in C from the romantic sketchbook for piano book 1.
I am working through the book at the moment.
