Please can anyone help me with transposing music for the clarinet?
I occasionally play in a worship group at church, but I have to spend ages transposing the music.
Does anyone know of clarinet music for the worship songs in Songs of Fellowship or Mission Praise
Or is there an easy way to transpose rather than copying by hand? unsure.gif
Is there, perhaps a computer programme that can do it for you?
Thank you!

Sibelius can do it for you - but you still need to put the music into the programme, and it wouldn't be worth buying it just for that, but maybe if you had other uses for it? I know there are other music software packages - some are even available free online, but I don't know if they transpose. Anyone?

The only other way is to transpose as you play, but that might be a bit of a tall order..

In situations like that (and as I hate transposing) I always find it easier to play the pieces by ear once I'm familiar with them.

That's what I do now. If you get to practice first it's not so bad. My singing group now knows that I'll make blips the first time through, 2 or 3 times if it's in a difficult key but then I'm ok. It really does get easier with practice. You might find it useful to write out the more difficult ones initially. Now I find myself transposing at church even when I'm supposed to be reading it as is. Oops!! blush.gif

The other thing could be to get the others to transpose, for example if you play with a keyboard ? Not always so easy with guitars thhough as the capo would take them up not down...

I use Finale print music to put the parts in for our church music group and that has a transposing option. You can also scan music in although I've only managed to make it work with a single page so if you had a part for a flute or vocalist that might work.
