Sorry if there is another thread on this already but I didn't find one...
I have just got my appointment (online) for exams on 11th March - anyone else?

I got one in the post for the Theory exams, but I'm still waiting on a couple of Prep Tests. Which reminds me, maybe it is a good idea to check online..... blush.gif

I've just checked and nothing yet although I asked for week 5 so maybe I'll be lucky!

Sorry if there is another thread on this already but I didn't find one...

I put my usual request out on Feb.10, but it's had time to slip onto page 3 before anyone responded! You just got ahead of me Willobie - I was planning to bump it back to p.1 this evening as there are now only two weeks to go before the beginning of the session. I think I'll do that anyway, at the risk of causing confusion, because it explained a bit more about what I hope to find out and why. 122 people have looked at it so far, but probably before they got their dates. The subject line starts "Usual request..."

Mine have just come up online now for Friday 13th March smile.gif

I have just got mine for 6 March. I think the new online system is brilliant! All the information in one place, including name of examiner, detailed information about facilities at the centre, travel information, including public transport routes, and a map and aerial view (though this gives you the centre of the postcode, so there is a bit of a walk from where it appears to be) Well done on this one ABRSM. Give a roll on the drums ....

I had mine for 11th March today but asked for them to be changed. Had to be a different centre but it's a week later but much better all round for candidates, teacher and accompanist. I like ABRSM sometimes!! tongue.gif

Email today to say dates were available online -25th March so plenty of notice

My daughter's exam is 9th March. My pupils' dates aren't available. My pupils are probably more ready than my daughter who is taking Gr 1 piano and only started the pieces after Christmas and doesn't really know her 3rd piece.....

Just heard today by post (and on-line) of the date: it's Monday 23 March for my two pupils. I think that's a very generous 5 weeks' notice. It's normally about that I find. Just hope they can make it. Mind you they'll both need every second of the time...

I got a text from my teacher last night. 2nd March.

I was very puzzled by the wide spread of dates we were seeing, spread across the first four weeks. I've just noticed that the two from week 4 are both in Northern Ireland where the closing date was earlier than for England and there aren't any yet from week 3. I'm glad there's a logical explanation!

I got mine online yesterday for the 11th March.... confusing thing was, they sent me an email to say they were up the day before, but they weren't!! Haven't been sent them in the post yet though. Should be fun at 9-10am!! sleep.gif

I got the theory bumpf through the post earlier in the week but nothing yet about the practicals (est beginning of April exams) but it's early still! smile.gif

Does anyone know if you get postal confirmation of your dates under the new online system? My email came last Friday, February 13th, but I have not had anything through the post - today's (Thursday) post has just come.

I've just had my pupils through for the 19th March (Thursday). 4 weeks today!! Good notice happy.gif

Just heard: Monday 16th March. I'm very pleased, as our centre was only open for eight days in Weeks 2 and 3; I have almost all my candidates playing in their school wind band in a festival on one of the days, there is a running competition involving at least two candidates on another day, one of whom is a very promising young runner, and yet another candidate is going away on a school exchange visit which took out the last two days.

The Board has been brilliant in working round these problems. Thank you, ABRSM. biggrin.gif clap.gif

I asked for Week 2 for my son (taking his Prep Test) - appointment was online on the 16th Feb - with an exam date of 9th March - fab! No letter as yet.

Have asked for Week 4 for my Grade 3 pupil - the page states that Week 4 appointment dates will be sent out week beginning 23rd Feb (next week) - so it will be interesting to see if they are just as efficient! smile.gif

That's very bad luck. I'll be surprised if you can't get it changed to a later date, especially as it only needs a relatively short time - finding half an hour for a Grade 8 exam is more difficult.

Whoever made the entry normally has to authorise the change, but I've sometimes been able to explore the possibilities when I've had a clash as an accompanist or someone has needed a different date. It's often easier for me to contact the Board during the day than for the teacher. Can you get to any centres other than the one you originally chose? I realise you will need an accompanist to be able to be there too, so it may not be practical. Best of luck!

I've just had the notification via the teacher for an exam on Thursday March 19 (as accompanist). That's in the week he asked for.
jinxi
I've just had mine - March 3rd - giving me 11 days notice. I think this is a bit unreasonable., particularly as it's so early in the 'season' and I was advised my music centre that it would probably be March 23rd. Is there anything I can do about it? I only have one lesson now - the day before the exam.

Can someone tell me what is the point of this thread? I've entered a number of students for exams this session as I have done every session for the past 32 years. I don't yet know when my dates are and when I do I have no desire to share such mind-numbingly dull information with others apart from the students themselves. I am genuinely baffled why this yawnathon is of any interest at all.

The excitement of teaching and entering students for exams is still alive for some of us smile.gif

Hi Maggie

I requested week 4 too, looks like we are going to get our wish. We should be able to see online from tomorrow - quite excited but nervous too as it is my first ever practical exam.

I asked for week 4 as well and still waiting to hear smile.gif I also put in a special request for it to be on a Saturday so fingers crossed!

Is the online date thing new? It is to me but my housemate is convinced it's been around for ages! Am I living in the dark ages?

I think the online appointments thing is new this term.

You may be lucky, or perhaps only nearly lucky! Just heard that an exam I'll be accompanying will be on March 20, end of week 3. Teacher asked for week 4 and heard this morning.

exams Published 16/02 - 20/02 for exams 16/03 - 21/03

Published 23/02 - 27/02 for exams 23/03 - 28/03

I think she probably did hear by letter, though she didn't actually say so. I don't expect those dates are actually set in stone! Much more likely just a guide to stop people bombarding them with emails and phone calls way before they have any chance of getting them ready. smile.gif

Me too for the 25th March for my Grade 3 pupil! Asked for Week 4 and it was posted online yesterday (Tuesday 24th Feb). So all in all, a positive experience with exam dates and issuing!

Has anybody heard anything about Trinity Guildhall exams yet? I know that they start in the week commencing 23rd March at the centre I'm using, but that's all I know. Am getting a bit anxious because my accompaniest can't do Tuesdays, and it's getting to the point where it would be hard to find an alternative person and fit in sufficent rehersal time. sad.gif

Mine came through yesterday too for the 27th March. I also asked for week 4. It was really strange as I checked the site in the morning and it said it was being updated and when I went in afterwards my appointment still wasn't there.

In the afternoon I went to my PC and there was an email from UK operations, subject appointment scheduled. I nearly deleted it as I thought it was spam! Luckily I checked its properties and saw ABRSM! Opened the email and it advised me that my appointment had been scheduled.

Just when I wasn't expecting it!

I may be seeing if the appointment may be changed with one of my other students to Monday 23rd as the timing on Monday fits in much better for me.

We will see.

Me too! It's the "UK Operations Appointments" that makes it look like one of those dodgy emails. If they had put "ABRSM Operations Apppointments" it would have been better, though I don't like the word operation at all in the context of a music exam appointment - it either sounds like something on the scale of a military operation (perhaps it is for them!) or a hospital appointment. I wonder if anyone has actually deleted it without looking any further?

You got your dates then? I wonder if my teacher gets so excited about her students doing her exams as you lot.
