Full Version: Clarinet Fingerings

Hi I'm new to clarinet. Picked it up as a hobby about 5 weeks ago. I have a background in flute, and I know how to read music.

I'm trying to play the notes Clarion B natural, C#, and then D# in succession. I cannot seem to find a combination
of fingerings that will allow that without having to awkwardly move my right pinky over from the outside top pinky key for the C# to the inside top pinky key for the D#.

This would not be an issue if I were just moving from C# to D#, but it is an issue doing B, C#, then D#. Is there a fingering option that I'm missing on my chart?

This kind of problem keeps coming up for me as I am teaching myself the major scales. Is there a chart that I can refer to that shows how to make these transitions? I'm learning this all by myself and I feel like I'm reinventing the bow and arrow here!

Thanks in advance for your advice.

you need RH B, LH C#, RH D#.

You'll need a right handed B, then a left handed C#, that'll take you to the D# without the need for sliding. smile.gif
