After seeing 8 year olds playing this on youtube - i had no idea it would be so difficult ph34r.gif

Do you mean the one from suzuki book 2 by paganini? If so, I think it's the string crossings that make it hard. Just do plenty of arpeggio-type practice and build up speed slowly. If I've got the wrong piece, ignore me, sorry!

one i found online - its weirdish .

It is not that difficult, it's in the 2nd book of Suzuki. The most difficult part is the appregios, practice them slowly in dotted rhythms.

By the way, that is actually the theme from the piece "Witches Dance", the original one is alot more difficult:

Seems like there are some tricky bits in that, from watching the vids and listening to the tune, esp the speedy bit at the end. Wouldn't mind it transcribed for viola. tongue.gif

There's a viola version in Suzuki viola vol 2 smile.gif

Yes, it is! smile.gif Actually, his username gives it away: Bratshemeister, (Bratsche being the German for viola), and it even says in the notes thingy there. The tone of the instrument helps too!

Mmm, think I might get this book sometime.... I like this piece.

He's great that guy - he's recording all the suzuki pieces on viola so people can watch how he plays them.

There's another guy doing the same on violin.

Very generous of them both.

Yes, it's really good! For me the main benefit is that I can hear the piece both in terms of what's in the Suzuki books, ie do I want to buy them, and I now rather think I do - even book 1, and also how the piece is supposed to sound. I've taken to playing through any new pieces on my little keyboard first so that I know what I'm supposed to be playing and that helps too. smile.gif
