Hi,

Just as the title says - I was wondering about James Rae's piece 'Tabasco' (a saxophone study on the Grade 8 list) should be straight or swung.

I learnt it ages ago (for fun, not an exam) and play it both ways depending on how I feel but I have a pupil who might be going to use it for Grade 8 so we need to pick one way to do it.

It isn't marked swing, but it works with it, giving it a slightly more jazzy feel rather than a 'study' feel. She would rather do it swung but obviously it depends on whether that is suitable for the exam.

Anyone have any suggestions? Experience?

Thanks,

Moose
