Interesting article here on Steinway's chief tuner/piano technician. I prefer Bosendorfers, myself.

That's really interesting - the power is nearly always behind the throne...

(says the accompanist who more often than not casts the shows, decides the ballet exam entries...)

Fascinating article, thanks for posting the link. And I now have the evidence I need to convince my wife that I need a new piano every 12 years!!!!!!!!!!

Alternatively you could wait until M&S bring one out - "this is not just a piano, this is an M&S piano" biggrin.gif

Thanks for the link to the article - I'm planning to see him at the Bridgewater Hall Piano Festival this week and it sounds like it's going to be very interesting smile.gif

I'm planning on going up to Manchester this weekend, so i'm going to sort out going to a few of the concerts, and have a look at the pianos, which should be great! If i see someone who looks like the person in your picture (I assume thats you), i'll wave! smile.gif

I've had a lot of trouble booking tickets for this at the Bridgewater - their booking system has been down all week, and apparently not likely to be back to normal until next week. They've just got one working computer for bookings and someone was going to ring me back when it was free, but I didn't get a call. So I'm not sure now whether I'll be going or not, Jacob - I don't want to go on spec in case they're fully booked sad.gif

Yes, we found this when trying to book, but sadly something has come up which means I can't make it up there this weekend, so I wont be going sad.gif I'm planning on going up soon though to see another concert, because I haven't been up in a while.

oh dear, my Steinway is about 117 years old (1892 ish...)!
It still has most of its original strings, but it could do with re-felting, when I can afford it.
