For info, Chappells of Bond Street sell (via mail order) Hidersine peg paste (to prevent tuning pegs slipping) and Hill peg paste (to enable tuning pegs to turn smoothly). I couldn't find either paste listed on the Stringmail website.

Once again, remember that the pegs must fit properly. Neither of the pastes will solve your peg problems if the pegs are ill-fitting in the first place.

Peg paste at Stringmail
I've only ever used Hill paste plus soap.
With this combination you should be able to get well-fitting pegs working beautifully.

Had been looking under the heading of Rosin and Pastes.

Do many people have bars of soap in the house these days? I do, but I know a few who don't - for many it's all pump dispensed liquids. The Hidersine paste is also a little more acceptable to keep in my instrument case accessory pocket. Pegs will usually misbehave the most when you aren't at home.

To be honest, there is surely more than one way to skin this particular cat, and we all tend to like what we have found to work for ourselves. So I'm sure dedicated "soap-dodgers" can find alternative solutions smile.gif

I find ordinary kiddies' plasticine works as well if not better than Hill's paste. I stick to discreet colours, though - no shocking pink!

blink.gif I can't imagine what the long term effects could be of using plasticine on pegs though. Not good, probably.
