Hello,
I have a question-
re the audition I mentioned, I was wondering if it is frowned upon to perform a song for an audition in a key other than the original??? I know that transposing affects the timbre etc, and each key has a different meaning, tension colour and so forth, but was wondering if doing such a thing could invalidate my performance/ create an unfavourable impression? I have the alternative piano part, so that's not an issue, in fact the first time I sang through the song it was in another key- Le Secret -Faure I believe originally in f? But I had it in c. Would be a shame to miss out on such a gem as my voice isn't quite up to the higher notes.. rolleyes.gif

Generally transposition is acceptable apart from when performing operatic or oratorio arias. These must be in the original keys of course but otherwise it is ok.
