I'm new, just discovered the forum: the completely musically orientated discussions here are v cool. Im called Pete and im 16, oboes my main instrument and I'm principal cor anglais in NYO (just got the results from my re-audition - am very chuffed ), I can also scratch around on the violin a bit - I'm supposed to be takin grade 8 but im really not good enough! oh yeh, and i can roughly play the piano too.

So... tell me about u guys!

I'm a violinist by profession, but also play the oboe. In fact we seemed to have been a bit short of double reed players round here, but I think we might be gaining a bit more ground now.

Might even be worth us trying for a specialist section for the oboe in Viva Woodwind

How long have you been in the NYO ?? Were you in the NCO before that??

Ive been in NYO a year so far, so iv done 3 courses, im already lookin 4ward to the xmas course!
i wasnt in NCO tho, although i know some people in it.

I'm not in NYO... I was in NYTC for a while though... never went on a course though, they never had space for me, but I held a place for a year lol!!

wow...professionals.... i do hope i can be one... (no use in orchestra)

there seem to be a lot of national groups... i'm all for them, you get to meet some really interesting people!!
