Something quite scary happened to me today.

I was given a copy of Rhapsody in blue (George Gershwin) by my piano teacher.

Now heres the thing, in all her years of experience, she is very musical and an excellent pianist.

But even she can't play this. D:

And i'm here, finding grade 8 hard enough! When i've been given this, out of the blue. (Rhapsody in blue!! haha...awful pun)

Its amazingly hard. ]: I can play the first page, and that is the height of it. XD Only 40 something more to go! laugh.gif

Wish me luck!! tongue.gif tongue.gif

Wow, Rhapsody in Blue! Cool!

Here is a dramatised arrangement that was very popular on Japan TV, involving a pianica:

smile.gif Hope you enjoy watching while learning the piano's part! I'd love to hear you play soon!

Which version are you playing, because it was written for piano and orchestra. Many years ago, I was given a piano solo version (joint publishers were Chappell of London, and Harms of New York) and bits of it were just impossible! If George Gershwin himself could play it, then I am indeed impressed!

I know he could play it with an orchestra because in my loft I have a 12" record, which runs at 80 rpm, of him playing it with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra.

Good Luck with your work.

I think i'm playing the original! Solo piano (DX) + piano 2 (Which is just the orchestra parts)

And you can find Gershwin's performance on youtube!

I fear that this will be the death of me. D:
