I can't decide whether to fly home in February to go to the concert in Cambridge, or whether to go to the Liverpool one (since liverpool is much nearer ireland) in which case I have to cope with Natalie for a few hours

Got tickets for Edinburgh!!
Was actually looking for the original Le Onde thread, but it must have been deleted.
Was involved in a show which was on last week, so had almost no practise time for past few weeks.
However, yesterday I sat down and played piano properly for first time in a while, and just about managed Le Onde. Quite excited as I really love this piece and am just about there.
I've also been listening to I Giorni, and starting to get hooked. Does anyone know how hard it is??

Hi Stumac
I only know i giorni (and the others in that book) so I cannot compare with le onde. I have asked Father Christmas for the le onde book!
I found I Giorni difficult but not so difficult. It has taken me several months of albeit inconsistent practice as I have been doing it as an extra piece on the side. There is a lot to it and there are some difficult stretches on the left hand but I am sure that you will have no trouble with it when I think of the pieces that you have been playing to date. Hope you enjoy playing it as much as I do, in spite of my family being fed up hearing it!

Hm - He's quite old. I shall listen to a sample of his output if I can find any. No, I can't find any.
Site doesn't say when he was born. Only that he won a scholarship in 1982. And that's interesting because he hasn't a listed work composed before 1982.

Can anyone tell me the year this man was born? I've looked through several google pages.
I did find a picture where's he's fallen asleep at the keyboard. Maybe had enough. http://www.buxton-opera.co.uk/fourfour/dia...ico_einaudi.php

Certain no offence meant here. Natalie comes in for a bit of joking from people about this composer... she likes his music but not many people here have heard it. She plays it.
I never heard of him until I came on this ABRSM board - I still haven't heard his music - only his latest piano stuff is on CD and none of the music stores have samples.
Nat also plays Ravel rather well, I understand.
So I think it's all meant with a smile!

cheers.

That was no joke. On your original post "prize night", you said that you played Ondine on a grand woohoo.
I was too deferent to ask if you played the rest of the suite. I am deferent to anyone who plays Ondine.
For those unfamiliar with this work, Ondine was written by Ravel, is fairly difficult but beautiful. It concerns the Ondines, Spirits of Water, not in the sense of a load of mermaids prancing around but their meaning, their... oh never mind (I could wax lyrical here but shutting up)
they like blondes and will respond to their evocations.
Ondine is the first of a set of pieces usually called Gaspard.

Blonde????
Is that bad? I heard about a blonde trying to kill a fish so she drowned it but... I dont know if it's true or not.
