Hey,

I have a pupil taking her clarinet grade 2 exam soon and I was wondering if she has to play the repeats in her pieces?

She's playing:

Minuet - Haydn
Velvet- Graham Lyons
Study in F- Lazarus

All the pieces have repeats. Also Velvet isn't in the exam book but was on the list, do I need to bring a copy of this to the exam for the examiner?

Usually repeats are not played in an exam.
As long as she has the music with her the examiner doesn't need a copy too.
If He/she wants to see it they will ask.

I was told not to do the repeats for my G3. (I seem to remember finding it says that in the regulations somewhere)

As for taking the music in - I think you need to take one copy in as the examiner may whish to look at it to check against what he/she hears, but you don't need a seperate copy just for the examiner. Are you both planning to play it from memory?

Thanks for your replies. Wont do the repeats then. No, we wont be playing from memory, but the one copy will do?

None of the pieces you've listed need the repeats in the exam, no. smile.gif

As for the music question, sbhoa's got it right on the button. smile.gif
