Okay, I have just fallen in love with a new sound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2GwlZqNoDQ...feature=related biggrin.gif

I don't think Martha and Pan need to worry yet laugh.gif but I just loved this (and this chap's Bach is just beautiful too)

i just bought a mandolin!

i wouldn't say i "play" it quite yet, but i can pick out a few fiddle tunes--the tuning is the same (GDAE), which is rather nice to get started with; it doesn't feel like picking up a completely new instrument and not being able to do anything with it.

on the other hand, the right hand is completely different, and it's rather more trickier than it looks ;-)

There's apparently an article in the current issue of The Strad on mandolin for people who play violin...

I've played a bit for years - with the accent on 'a bit'. Strummy chords, mostly.
