HE would usually express this in a tone of exasperation during my explanation of a point raised by another member of the class.

It is not just the phrase, it's the air of complete lip curling disdain with which he says it.

Tomorrow will tell - it's "The TUESDAY Group" ! WIll he turn up or will he be absent??? unsure.gif unsure.gif

Then yes, I believe that was rude. I wouldn't expect to be treated like that when I taught and if an adult said that to me I would simply ask them to leave until they had learnt manners; the smacked bottom of speeches.

Glad he didn't turn up, him and his "chairman" sound like they need some morphine or something.

Sorry for only just logging on, but I've only just finished teaching.

woot.gif It's good news from my end too! She never arrived on my doorstep, and I feel nothing but relief now. I just hope this is the end of the matter.

So pleased it worked out for you as well Diapson and I reckon you'll have a great class now as the others will have great respect for you, and they'll feel very relieved that they don't have to put up with the person's rude behaviour anymore thanks to you. I also owe you a big thank you for posting your bad experience, as I don't think I would have thought to bother people with my upset.

Thanks to everyone who've come on here and posted replied (plus the private messages too), which has helped me more than you'll ever know in coping with this hard week. I am really grateful! smile.gif

Good news all round!

Not at all - sorry, I didn't mean to sound impatient! anyway I'm so glad it seems to be sorted and you didn't have to face her again.

Wouldn't it be useful to possess some kind of 'problem student radar' that warned us before we took on someone like that?!

Great news all round! What a relief for both of you. party1.gif party1.gif

I wasn't aiming the sorry to your comment Maggiemay biggrin.gif I just knew a lot of kind people like yourself would be waiting to hear the outcome, as I've been so touched by all the caring people.

Yes, it would be good to have a 'problem student radar' biggrin.gif but I think if I've learnt anything from this, it's to take the warning signs early on (actually I got them on her first lesson all that time ago) and I should stop giving people excuses that I do, eg "perhaps they're like this 'cos life has been kind to them in the past." Life hasn't always been kind to me, but no way am I rude to people, or I hope, ever will be!

It's been said before, but we have gut reactions / instincts for a reason - foolish to ignore them! Most people are perfectly nice and reasonable. Life is too short to bother with the rest. laugh.gif

True!

All's well that ends well - and a lesson for all of us here is that it obviously pays to be assertive! wink.gif

(I hate that smilie - but I felt I needed a smilie and there was no other one that would do... unsure.gif )

Good news on both counts!

I'm so glad everything's worked out well for both of you - what a pair of horrors they were! In the case of GM's student, I think the term 'personality disorder' probably sums it up; some personality disorders are just too much for other people to cope with on a regular basis and best avoided altogether - seems like you handled the situation very well indeed and now you've got the best possibole outcome.

One big phew all round. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif
