Thank you everyone for your recommendations, we went off to the shop today and this is what I came out with:-

Martha Mier Jazz, Rags & Blues Book 4
Dance of the Dolls by Dmitri Shostakovich
Mozart Sonata in C Major KV 545
Anna Magdalena Bach
Classics to Moderns Book 4 and Book 5
Satie Gymnopedies Gnoissiennes Sonatine bureaucratique - Schott Piano Classics

I also bought a

flute classical book with pull out piano accompaniment
flute swing book with pull out piano accompaniment

A flute jazz book for my son for his birthday
A beginners recorder book and recorder for my grandson for his birthday
3 clarinet reeds and a packet of stick ons that go on the mouth piece (to help stop the vibration hurting your lips.

Phew!! I think that was all.

My daughter paid for one of the Classics to Moderns and Satie

3 of the books will be courtesy of my friends that gave me some money

One book of my son who gave me some money

I got money from my sister in law and father in law and lots of hubbie, so I still have some money to spend - yippee and I have all of these lovely books. Its so exciting.

I have gone through the books briefly and there is nothing in any of them that horrifys me, some I can play with ease now, but others will need some work on, so depending on what mood I am in, I can do study or I can just play for pleasure.

Once again thanks again for the lovely ideas, big problem now is that I need a new cupboard to fit it all in, what with all my theory and open university stuff, the cupboard is getting over loaded!

Lovely stuff - there's nothing like a good shop! Hope you enjoy playing it all... biggrin.gif

The Sonate Bureaucratique by Satie is a laugh, not that easy (Grade 7 at least). Its a parody of Clementi's first Sonatina from Op36. I'm pleased you took my Shostakovich recommendation. The Gavotte is the nicest piece, the Waltz you can mess with and make it comical.
Mad Tom
Great piano choices. Hours of fun. The Notebook for Anna Magdalena is magic. The Mozart Sonata is labelled "easy" but it is not! But then nothing is easy to play well.

How much did Anna Magdalena Bach cost? I realise Bach stopped composing in 1750, but presumably his wife is now decomposing? tongue.gif

Was in Taunton on Friday accompanying for an exam and called in at Gillian Greig's music shop on the way back. Based entirely on the fact that someone in this thread said Dances of the Dolls was nice, never having heard it, or even heard of it, I bought it................ and I love it!!! Can think of a couple of pupils who'll enjoy playing some of these, as well as me.

Also bought, again having read about it on these forums, The Beatles book from the Really Easy Piano series. Again I didn't know it at all, just went on what people said on these forums. Once again, a hit. The arrangements are really good - I've just been playing them and singing along - a hit I think with some of my pupils too.

I discovered the Martha Miers books a while ago when one of my pupils was learning Jackson Street Blues out of the Grade 5 book last year. I've now got a few of them and find them really enjoyable to play, and I hope you enjoy them too eldatom. smile.gif
