Well this afternoon my little boy was playing nicely so i decided to do a spot of piano practice. I'd just got to the point of stopping when I received a text message on my phone.

It said this "I think your music has sent both my boys to sleep. Keep up the good work it gives me 30 minutes peace." smile.gif

I thought this was a lovely comment as I know she'd had a really bad night with both boys being up a lot as they are not too well and I had hoped that my music wasn't annoying her or disturbing th eboys if they were resting. It seems it had had the opposite effect! I hadn't done a particularly fantastic job either as I was just sightreading through a couple of new pieces. The comment was lovely and made me smile.

They are not musicians themselves either.

Since we've had talk of complaints from neighbours on here I wanted to share this positive comment. smile.gif

I have friendly neighbours too, and it really does add to your quality of life.

That's lovely, Dawn. smile.gif

Our neighbour's son was here the other day, and my dad had some Handel playing on the radio. The child announced that he hated it and promtly asked my brother if they could go outside as he didn't like the noise. sad.gif

What a nice comment, Dawn; thanks for sharing. smile.gif

Miss Ross, sorry your neighbour's son didn't like Handel, but perhaps he'd never heard much classical music. It's probably a question of liking what you know.

Just a little story to add to the feel-good factor, and trying to engender a feeling of positivity this morning (having seen a grumpy teenage son dry.gif off to school).

I went along to the exam centre where 3 of my pupils were going in for exams yesterday. (Just to explain - I'm a piano teacher so not strictly necessary on these occasions). When I got there we could hear almost every note in the waiting room, and they all seemed to do reasonably well. One of the mums also said that when she told her daughter that I would be there, her daughter was visibly pleased and seemed to relax during the journey to the exam. So I felt I had done some good after all! smile.gif

Then my poor little ones have no choice but to like anything from classical to quite heavy rock at times (curteousy of my hubby). !!!! smile.gif

It was still lovely when they both told me last night that my clarinet playing was "really lovely music Mummy" wub.gif clarinet.gif (I was playing the Adagio from Mozart concerto in A)

I seem to have had a rather positive day yesterday.

We also enjoyed listening to the above piece on CD whilst getting ready this morning. smile.gif

My granddaughter tells me to 'put it back' when I play clarinet. ohmy.gif
I don't get much chance on the piano when she's here either as she wants it for herself (complete with whichever book she wants to play from...).

My little boy was "experimenting" on the piano this morning. Some of it was quite good. He'd sussed out some chords!!! Then he played something that sounded a little like "le chat et la Mucheron" Apologies for the spelling (The cat and the gnat). It was the spiky slightly dissonant bit smile.gif

He told me that he really wants to play the clarinet "when I'm big enough" smile.gif So I must be making it sound appealing!!!

At not quite 2 1/2 she doesn't get the notes but she is very good at playing the rhythm for sections of her favourite songs.
