When I was 28 I had been married three years, we had furnished the house, the mortgage repayments were all under control and I had a rise at work so I started saving up for a brand new one of these MGBs

Then our first son set a date for his arrival.

End of MGB hopes, purchase of a Ford Cortina and the start of a new life with the first of three great sons .

You could get contrabass and sub contrabass recorders for that and still have some left over for a hand made sop and alto. Neddy, my old landrover, gets me around very faithfully. I would not change him.

I sold it had a lot of trouble with it while I had it as well, that and I've gone to Uni so can't really afford a Porsche (studying Motorsport Tech in Sept though so should be fun ). Got an MGB now that I compete in.

MR2 turbo, running nicely at 300bhp is my daily driver at the moment!

DC why don't you tell them about the time you also lost your mobile phone, and thought it might be in the car so I telephoned it and ..... there it was chirping away to itself having slipped down beside the passenger seat

Took a bit of getting out, I seem to remember.

Now, I know this is boasting, but my car doesn't have a posh handbrake because it doesn't have a handbrake . It is all electronic, and comes on when I stop and goes off when I press the accelerator. Magic

It made a very nice pair with katyjay's car outside our Anglesey B&B.
