I know the answer to this one because today my smallest singer sight read it beautifully (not real sight since he knows the tune mostly)...we had a sweet rendition that started

Where-ere-ere-ere-ere is Love

Does it fall from SKIS above?

See that must be where I'm going wrong...I'm not looking in the winter sports places

The problem of singing "sky is the vowel is a dipthong. it is ah-ee. The majority of the sound needs to be sung on ah with the briefest bit of ee at the end, as if you are placing a final consonant.

Dipthongs make singing in English hard. You have to spend most of your time on the initial vowel and this is counter intuitive.

Even natural English Speakers get it wrong.

laugh.gif Yes, you must be right! One of my adult pupils appears to be deeply in love, having met a woman while on a snow-boarding holiday a few weeks ago.

Given the size of the singer, I inferred this was an issue with reading, not with diphthongs.

Where is love? Have you looked down the back of the sofa ...?

The 'best' rendition of this song has to be by one L. Nimoy

Oh you infer correctly, I meant he just misread it.

Another kid in this school, when asked if he knew what I meant when talking about keeping the bow Parallel said YES of course, parallel was what you did with your feet when ski-ing to prevent falling over. This is clearly a Posh Holiday School tongue.gif

Is that with an 'ere' on every note?

Yes and no, it was Musical if you know what I mean. It was just a neat suspensful lead into the Skis bit of the story really. rolleyes.gif
