I'm currently wondering whether to put in for my Grade 1 this summer (depending on what my teacher says) for Viola.

Also was thinking of doing the Grade 1 exam for charity, my local music shop ran a "Grade 1-a-thon" a while ago now I'm thinking of doing my bit!

Anyone done / doing anything like this?

Was the Forums Grade 1 Challenge before your time?

I have 'Forum Challenge' in the 'presented for examination by' space on my grade 1 clarinet certificate

I think it was running when I very first joined not sure though!

Well I've jumped in at the deep end! Emailed my teacher who says we are going to go for it

I will be doing Grade 1 this summer eek not decided which charity to support I was thinking of youth music - www.youthmusic.org.uk will have to ring them as to how to go about it as with some charities you can sponsor someone online!

I don't know the viola syllabus, but my suggestion would be to get the cd and listen to the pieces.

I'm thinking we should have some sort of 'string exam challenge,' because although its not grade one, me and lottie are also intending to do our first viola exams next term. Lottie started playing the viola a month ago (I think, but she can correct me if I'm wrong) and is going to do grade 3, and I started playing in September and am going in for grade 8.

Am really looking forward to it I have decided to do it for youth music charity.

In my practise today, I'm so pleased it just seems to be getting better and better I did my G major and D major, not done C major yet though. Also had a go at fourth finger, that seemed very difficult glad I've got my lesson on Tuesday!

I can do four notes slurred alot better than two so hopefully that will be addressed in my lesson!
