I can't believe it. I know it's only Grade 1, but it's a huge personal achievement for me because I never thought I'd ever return to doing music, let alone learning a stringed instrument at the age of 39!

Congratulations! Now you should find two violinists and a 'cellist who are a bit further ahead* than you. Ideally, the violinist who leads should be about Grade 7 on another instrument (piano or organ would be ideal). You could start your ensemble playing with hymn tunes or (better still) Bach chorales.

* Viola players being relatively scarce, you might well find Grade 4 or 5 players happy for you to join them. I get the same effect on double bass: most of the members of my regular orchestra play their instruments better than I do mine.

Nicia - I did March by Baklanova, Evening Hymn by Bruckner and Cotillon by Hotettere. I got 27/30 for March and 26/30 for the other two.
