Did anyone watch the three part series, Willie's Chocolate Revolution, on Channel 4?

It was interesting to see how few of the ten so-called 'chocoholic' volunteers didn't like his new 'black chocolate'. One of them openly admitted that she now realised her addiction was in fact to sugar, not chocolate per se. laugh.gif

I'm a huge fan of dark chocolate - the higher the cocoa content, the more I like it! wub.gif I'm definitely going to be trying some of his chocolate bars, which I believe are being sold in Waitrose.

For anyone turning up their nose at the thought of 100% cocoa chocolate - it's full of all the vitamins and minerals found in the natural bean and won't make you fat either! No poundage boosting sugar, fat or additives that the milk variety is laden with.

Dark chocolate is also an energy booster, both for the brain and the body, along with additional aphrodisiac attributes wink.gif happy.gif

Must try that smile.gif

I like the Green and Blacks dark chocolate wub.gif

Oooooh I absolutely adore dark chocolate wub.gif And another advantage has got to be that you tend not to be able to eat that much at once so it lasts loads longer biggrin.gif

I think my favourite has to be Lindt (or however you spell it tongue.gif) 80%.

That's usually the one I eat - the 85% variety, but I was in Tesco yesterday and thought I'd give the new 90% Lindt bar a try this week...... I shall update biggrin.gif

Absolutely. In fact, that was one point raised in the programme. Chocolate should give such a kick, that you don't want to eat more than one or two pieces at a time.

And they do a 90% bar now too..... (go on, you know you want to try it)

Another one to try! I don't like the Lindt milk chocolate and haven't tried the dark.

It's true - a couple of square of really dark chocolate with a cup of coffee is usually enough for me in one go.

Never been much of a fan of white chocolate. Don't even really like Milkybars that much...
Ayshah
I too am a dark chocolate fan.

At Easter I never buy the children Easter Eggs as I cant bear the rubbish choc they sell, so I go to the chocolatiers and buy very dark chocolate for Adult relatives & friends. It costs a fortune but the kids cant stand it so they never try to pinch any.

I certainly intend to try Willies Chocolate as I am very curious after watching his trials and tribulations to get the product out successfully.

White chocolate for me biggrin.gif Anything over about 40% I find too bitter - I'm quite happily aware it's the sugar that does it for me. White chocolate - "all the cocoa fat, none of the cocoa solids" as it was once described to me - I just can not resist!

However, we should all be aware that cocoa trees are under threat from disease, the future could be very sad indeed ohmy.gif See here for details...

I like mostly any kind of chocolate but I can't eat a lot at once even if it's plain milk choc. Maybe because I eat bad quality ones?

i prefer dark to milk chocolate and did enjoy the programmes
Crotchetymum
I love Green and Blacks milk and their creamy milk, but I do have a sweet tooth. I buy dark for my husband, my sister and her son - she was carefully training him to like dark chocolate while mine were munching Cadbury's Buttons. We're lucky here to have a wonderful chocolatier who makes her own chocolate on the premises (yesterday she was making rose creams) and all of her chocolate, whether it's white, milk or dark, is scrumptious wub.gif

Oh dear! All that talk about chocolate earlier....

I remembered we had a couple of creme egg Easter eggs at the back of the cupboard we were saving.. for Easter. Thought I might have a nibble and ended up scoffing the creme eggs out of both and half of each of the big eggs...

Currently I have them turned around so they still look like whole eggs from the front laugh.gif

Better nip out tomorrow and replace them quick. Of course after I've done that I'll have to eat what's left of today's eggs and hide the boxes blush.gif tongue.gif

Unfortunately, I rather enjoy it though! blush.gif tongue.gif

I LOVE cheap chocolate!

I especially like those huge blocks of cake covering. Rarely indulge though - they don't sell it in sweet shops, fortunately.

Sorry, I'll go.....

Whereas a high percentage of cocoa solids suggests a good quality chocolate, it isn't necessarily so, of course. Some of them aren't up to the hype.

We have the most wonderful real chocolate in the world!!! (well perhaps excepting Belgian chocolate).
Bayonne is famous for its chocolate and our local patisserie/chocolaterie runs a very close second. Dark, or milk, black or white it is delicious. I think even maggiemay might fall for the white chocolate here!

At the moment shop is full of chocolate chicks and bunnies and eggs and hens and ....you name it. No one is this town dares to give anyone chocolates unless they come from this shop! A pupil has just given me a chocolate cat for Easter - roll on Sunday!

Tequila
Anyone tried the Bourneville Old Jamaica or the orange one. Yum wub.gif (And I'm not usually a dark chocolate fan find too high solids too bitter and I like the milk in my choc - not the horrid really cheap stuff though huh.gif Yuk!!)
The Old Lady
I love the dark bitter stuff.

I like really dark chocolate now and then but with a cup of coffee it would blow the top of my wee head off!! ohmy.gif laugh.gif

I loathe cheap chocolate including Thorntons etc. Eughh nasty. Same for cheap white chocolate.

OH likes Galaxay and Dairy Milk so I occasionally have a square and it's okay but on the whole I'm not a fan of chocolate and actually don't eat it very often.

I don't like Lindt chocolate blush.gif and this year I've been given a 'milk bunny', a 'dark bunny' and a huge Lindor egg with chocolates. All rather ill.gif so I've no idea what to do with them!

Oh... edited to say: if any of you are ever noodling around Inverness in Scotland try to get to Strathpeffer. They have the most incredible Belgian chocolate shop/cafe there! They make REAL hot chocolate in the proper chocolate pot and it's so thick and delicious but so rich too tongue.gif They sell incredible hand-made chocolates and you can see into the workshop. They don't even waste space in the shop selling food - just chocolate! (although you can get a cup of tea with a stern look laugh.gif ) I do like their chocolates but at a £1 for one they're a rare treat!

My daughter ordered a Hotel Chocolat egg for her fiance.
It arrived one day when she was at work - I emailed her to say 'it's arrived' , thinking she would like to know.

But I added a ps ...

"It was delicious".

It depends not only on the variety of bean but also the quality of that bean. Too much rain for example will ruin the crop.

The best chocolate I've had was 80% with chilli and cherry stuff inside. I bought it in Switzerland, but it was Lindt, so I was hoping I'd be able to buy it here, but it seems not. sad.gif

I bought a huge tub of what looked like malteser type chocolates in Switzerland. When we got home I put one in my mouth, bit it and realised it was full of vodka ill.gif

Hotel Chocolat chocolate is delicious - I was a member of the tasting club for a good while and often bought extra items from HC inbetween the tasting boxes........ yummy (and fair trade - although not under the fairtrade label....)
