Hi everyone! I now regret not learning the piano at a younger age, so have decided to start at grade 1 already knowing some basic piano.

Can anyone help me with the fingerings for the Gavot (A1)?

The bass line goes : CBCGFECFDGGC

My friend gave me: 121234512152

Is this ok? the only reason i question it is because the 2nd F in the line is marked as 2 in the book.

Hopefully someone can help! I really can't afford to pay anyone for lessons, am just having free ones off my friend.

Please also let me know if you have fingerings for B1 or C3!

Thanks a lot smile.gif

If the fingering your friend gave you works for you, and doesn't result in an awkward change, or running out of fingers before the end of a phrase, it's likely to be ok.

I think the reason they suggest 2 on the second F in the book is to leave the thumb ready for the G in bar 7. But if it works without a sudden jerky move at the start of the second line it's ok.

Remember fingering is individual and the numbering in the book is only one suggestion, not set in stone.

Have a go at working out your own fingering for the first two lines RH of Song of Erin - it's very straightforward!

I think 3 on the first LH middle C is useful as it leaves 2 and 4 ready for the chord in bar 3. But it's only an opinion.

Thanks very much, I tried Erins Song and its unbelievably easy, learnt the whole thing to a standard I would happily perform in the exam within 45minutes.

Thanks also for Teigr's PM, i guess it is just whatever works best for my hands, which are fairly large now compared to a small kid starting off at grade 1!
