Hello,

Title says it really.

I don't feel I'm getting my pedalling right for this piece...it either seems too much, or not enough.

Any tips would be welcome.

Thank you. smile.gif

Are you playing Dame Myra Hess' arrangement? Me too (just learnt page 1 so far). I use pedal very sparingly to gloss over some of my fingering exigencies - but I think as long as you don't make it too muddy you should be ok. Maybe a detailed analysis of the harmony might help, if you want to take the intellectual approach laugh.gif

I've learned to try and not to use pedal in bach's music, because keyboard music was mainly written for the harpsichord, which has no pedal.

But as its a piano arrangement, you could get away with using the pedal.
However its up to whether you prefer to use the pedal or not.

I agree with those who suggest that some light and discreet pedalling would be fine. Use it carefully, never clouding the harmonies and don't romantisise it and you won't go far wrong, old bean.
