I have a student who is progressing fast and is keen to practise. He is playing pieces of grade 3 standard, but I'm concerned that we need to ensure that his technique is keeping up with his reading, musicality etc.
I have used, and do use, various study books, but I'm looking specifically for a study book that would underpin the learning of a student who is likely to make rapid progress to grade 5.
What would you suggest?

I was brought up on Dorothy Bradley's "Tuneful Graded Studies". They dealt with a variety of technical problems. Perhaps a bit old fashoined but if still in print, certainly sound.
The ABRSM also publish two series of Graded Study books which I have sometimes used. My criticsm of these is that unless pupils are quick readers you need to use the book a Grade below or you spend too much time on note learning and not enough on technique.
Then, there is the Dozen a Day series which lots of people like.
Don't know if any of this helps - actually you don't state the instrument - I've assumed it's piano.

Good point! Yes, the instrument in this case is piano!

Yes. I quite like these but the grading does seem slightly skewed.

Me too, although I only had the first one. They are still in print and I have bought one recently but not had opportunity to use it with a pupil yet.
