Hi all!
Please share your preparation toward the exam and also questions about the material so we can discuss it together smile.gif

I want to ask about C1 in glissando part, in bar 31, it is said 'free', my teacher suggested to hold the quaver until the fourth beat and directly do glissando in the fifth beat, honestly i'm kinda unsure, any suggestion?

I played that one for my exam in March. I did my glissando the other way round, I played the glissando slightly slower than normal and held the note at the top briefly. I don't think I took much notice of how long the bar was supposed to go on for.

I heard someone else play this and their glissando was very quick without holding a note at the top or bottom. I don't think she payed attention to how it was written and did it in less than a second.

If it says free then I suppose it's open to interpretation and they can't really mark you down unless you do it completely wrong.

i've decided to play b1
but still confused on other two lists
a: a1,a2
c: c1, c2

i'm rather unsure about turns in a1 (bar 7, 23, and so on)
in the sample recording here grade 7
they start in the second beat which is contrary from the book
in the score it should be played in third beat
how is your suggestion?
or it depends on the interpreter?

Well, I played this piece too and I didn't play it how they played it. I played on beat 3 and it took up the whole beat. Then again I did fail on this piece so you might not want to listen to my comments. If you're unsure on how it should be failed then following how they play it in the example is always a good idea.

That's finely okay kingsley13, me too also play it in the third beat now (after discussing with my teacher).
But, actually, the turns are really hard played clearly in such speed!
So, am considering A2 if i stuck here tongue.gif

Anyone else playing A3 Scarlatti? I think I must be the only one!

Upon first hearing it seemed meanderish however now that I'm aware of the separate voices it's really rather beautiful. My ear is becoming educated.

Bars 31-33 are a sticky section for me. It seems to help to slide the LH forward on the keys.

Bar 55 is fiddly but nothing insurmountable (hopefully).

I admit that I haven't quite perfected the three-note ornaments in the closing two bars. Someone suggested holding down the bottom F but surely that is an outrageous cop out? It seemed to help when I first thought of the accidentals applying as much to the upper stave as to the lower (as they do of course, it's just that they aren't written there). Then the notes of the chord went down together.

One thing I love about this piece is that you can place the crescendos exactly where you want them to be :-)

My student apparently listened to all the pieces in the book - and the only one she liked was A1.

Yeah, A3 is nice actually, but i prefer a rather cheerful piece from list A.
Yep, the LH in the last two is tricky, i haven't consult this with my teacher, but i prefer to hold the F.

In the end of this year, haven't been confirmed about the date, but i think it's on october or november.
