Thanks for reading. One of my pupils is leaving in a couple of months to move to a different country. I took her through her Grade 2 piano exam which she worked hard for and passed. We've only got around eight lessons to go until she leaves to move away. I don't want to go straight into Grade 3 exam work as i feel she needs a break and to do something a bit more light-hearted. Also, she has many exams at school at the moment (She's 16). She enjoys her lessons and i'll be sad to see her go. I wonder though, what can i teach her in the last few lessons that we have? I guess i'm really looking for some ideas please! I've asked her if there's anything she'd like to learn, but she doesn't have anything in particular. I would like to do something that she'll enjoy and remember when she goes away. Any suggestions please?! Thanks in advance. piano.gif

Hiya, if she is up to her neck in revision and needs some light relief, how about trying some really simple duets? They should be really easy ones which she doesn't need to practise, unless she wants to run through them at home (just as a break from revision). There are so many wonderful pieces out there, but I can't help thinking that your pupil won't necessarily have much time for practise, but then you've guessed that one already!!! blush.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif

How about "Upgrade 2-3" so that she's got some nice pieces to play when she gets to wherever she's going.

Hi - where is she going? Would it be useful to spend a little bit of time on a translation class? For example if she is going to be taught using immovable doh system (have I got that right?), or suddenly have to start calling crotchets quarter notes, it might be nicer for her to be prepared for that. Do the AB operate there or is it worth researching the grade exam system where she is going just to ease the whole moving process for her?

Mamma Mia easy piano book?(wise publications, I think)
May not be her thing but an enormous percentage of my earlyish grade pupils, especially the teenagers, are doing this at the moment. It's about the right level - grade 2 -3 ish, I'd say. Some are harder than others so you could pick and choose.
She may hate Abba but I thought I would mention it seeing as it seems to be the thing of the moment with mine.

Yes, I agree with the 'Upgrade 2-3' book - this particular book has some pieces such as Wild Bill Hiccup that teenagers seem to thoroughly enjoy... Catacombs is another good one..
