A few times I've wanted to post something I've been proud of myself for and have had to start a new thread so I thought I'd create a space to share and celebrate them.

Use this space to post when you are proud of yourself, a child, a pupil, a friend etc for your/their achievements both musical and otherwise.

My proud moment today? Well my daughter got the headteacher's award for doing well with her writing in school biggrin.gif

Earlier in the week I was proud to be asked to play a higher part in band for the next few weeks.

So what's made you proud today?

Not today, but yesterday - did a joint concert with our orchestra and massed choir from around the county, including the choir I sing in and the choir I accompany smile.gif I was playing rather than singing, but I was so proud of 'my' choirs singing away. Also proud to be part of the orchestra and show the choirs and the audience what we do smile.gif

Yesterday - I think I coped pretty well at the Eccles playday, being the only flute there laugh.gif And I overcame my nerves and played a solo piece to a forum member party1.gif

Today - I went for a run laugh.gif

I earned my second sticky gold star on my positivity chart and my friends wrote a nice little comment when we stuck it up hehehehe smile.gif
Sounds kind of silly, but I'm really touched that they've gone to such effort to try and help make me feel good about myself smile.gif

That sounds like a really nice idea smile.gif

Yeh smile.gif immature and silly, but it's nice that they're wanting to help me, and also, it's nice to be able to see visually how I'm getting on...and I don't want to let them down so I'm trying really hard and they're just being lovely, when I was scared they'd shun me a bit or tell me I'm silly when I revealed how I was really thinking...plus everyone loves stickers don't they?! smile.gif

I made a really good job of cutting the hedge biggrin.gif

Managing some really tricky double-choir music after a very dodgy rehearsal for which I was late (thanks - buses!)

This morning I did a fun run (5 miles) in my fastest time - 41 minutes 44 seconds. OK not actually that brilliant, but hey, it's an improvement on 51 and 48 minutes (previous two years' times)!
And I beat one of my friends who insisted he was going to beat me beforehand. tongue.gif laugh.gif

Pupil won two out of his three piano classes at his first Festival this week biggrin.gif

I'm very proud of my elderly dog who gamboled about on our walk today even though she has sore front legs. She's very stiff tonight and I've given her a painkiller for her arthritis but she had such a good time in the sun and was very happy. She's still my baby even though she's quite elderly (I hand-reared her). wub.gif

That's great smile.gif I only did 2.5 miles but it took me nearly 30 minutes blush.gif

We certainly DO all love stickers!!!! Well I do anyway blush.gif smile.gif Not that anyone's given me any for a while..... sad.gif

Tonight's the night I step up in band. Bit worried about upsetting the regular firsts and my second partner of some time but with the support of the solo player I'm going to do it. Strange mixture of excited and nervous going on at the moment unsure.gif

Glad this thread got some response smile.gif

I'm am a rather decent clarinnettist after all smile.gif blush.gif

It's just taken me a while to believe it again and after tonight I think I've finally got back to where I was at about 18 and that's after about 1.5 yrs band experience and 3 lessons.

Just think what I can do now!!! The sky's the limit as they say.

I love my clarinet wub.gif !!!

Laid a bamboo floor with the help of two other forum members over the last week, and managed to stay in time through most of a rehearsal yesterday woot.gif.

At the weekend my two kids (6 and 4) took their first ever exams - dancing.

And today i've found out they passed!!!! The elder one, doing particularly well in the ballet song and dance medal, scored 73 and 67 (tap)

My youngest scored 67 for his ballet and didn't do the tap.

My recorder monster mob all did their prep tests or grade 1s this week. Seeing the littluns coming out clutching their prep test certificates with huge grins on their faces was a very proud-making moment biggrin.gif

What is a "ballet song and dance medal"? Ballet doesn't normally include singing!
Congratulations though biggrin.gif

My brother got a merit for his Grade 1 Jazz Alto Sax. He must have been doing a lot of practice when I've been out of the house, because I hardly ever hear him play! laugh.gif

Well done to him. smile.gif

My sister was the opposite- we had to suffer her playing (when forced to) as she would undoubtedly forget to do it when she got home from school, and so would do it at 9, just before going to bed, when everyone was in again! wink.gif

My school report biggrin.gif

English, art and music were lovely smile.gif

Geography, the sciences, maths, french, and drama were kind of average. A few a bit weird.

And R.E, I.T, and P.E. were "inconsistent". Must be something about subject names made from initials...

R.E- I never revise for the tests, so am not on target
I.T- I never do any coursework outside of class, so am behind. (Nearly caught up!)
P.E- I'm just generally very unsporty and unfit.

But art, music and English were good smile.gif

That's what I thought too!!!! Basically it's a really early medal. Involves a song with actions and a few steps thrown in. It's based on ballet steps with the need for feet turned out, first position, some of the ballet springs etc. I think it's a precursor of the proper ballet exams - meant for 3s up to about 5/6s. (My daughter only started about 8 months ago though)

My daughter sang it wonderfully though, so clear and fantastic diction/annunciation for a 6 year old and totally in tune. I was so proud when I first saw her do it in rehearsal I confess I nearly shed a tear. smile.gif Hopefully it'll stand her in good stead for parts in the school performance by teh time she's in year 5 or 6.

I joined the property ladder (again). Now I'll have plenty of space for music and dancing. Hurray hurrah.gif

Really proud Mummy moment this week. My daughter started her recorder lessons in school. She came home, showed me what she had learnt, played it along with the CD Great but this next bit topped it totally and I had tears in my eyes I was so proud smile.gif : She then moved onto the next tune. One she had not played before and played it along with the CD Totally in time - including starting in the right place after the intro AND taking a couple of bars rest in the middle before staring again.

We are only talking note B (she's now gone on to pieces with A and A and B quite well) But I was SOOOOOO proud of her biggrin.gif

I'm using this thread again as I've once again encountered a real proud Mummy moment today:

I'm really proud of my 6 year old daughter. She's always been a bit of a nervous swimmer without bands (loves the water with bands) and up until today has only managed a few strokes without putting her feet down. She has had a tendency to hold her breath and then put her feet down to breathe. Today she's swum right up to the deep end and back without bands in the big pool. She did grab the lane divider rope twice to pause for a quick breath but she did it and oozed confidence. We did this after doing widths going increasingly out of her depth.

I'm a real proud Mummy!!! smile.gif
