I entered my choir for the National Youth Festival and unfortunatley they were over subscribed for Southampton so we had to send in a CD. Fortunately we got through to the next stage in Birmingham. Unfortunately it is on 7th July and the school where I teach finish on the 4th July!!!!! So frustrating as already I've been told by 5 parents that they are already off on holiday.
Still, I've decided that even if there are only a handful we will go and perform. They worked so hard and think those who can make it deserve it.

Well done all of you! smile.gif

Congratulations on getting this far; lets hope those who are away will regret not being present when you go on to the next stage.

Good luck. chorale.gif

My daughters school Chamber Choir are singing in the Birmingham heat, not my daughter though as the Choir had to be trimmed down from 100 to 45. This is bad luck for you, such a shame. I wish you all the very best of luck and hope you all have a wonderful day. Lets know how you get on!

My primary school choir got through to the MFY finals a few years back (when it was still at the South Bank). Has to be the SCARIEST thing I ever did...

So best of luck and ENJOY!!!

Yes, enjoy the day - it will be a fantastic experience, I'm sure. No 3 son took part in the finals when he was at junior school. He played his cello in the Festival Hall aged 9 - it's all downhill from there. biggrin.gif

I can remember playing in Music for Youth competitions in the 1970s, there were no regional rounds then as far as I remember, we went to the Festival Hall on the South Bank 1 year and the Fairfield Halls in Croydon another. Also played a Schools Prom in the Albert Hall and all of these were tremendous experiences I still remember cleary now. It will be a great experience for your choir, go for it.

DON'T get me started on MfY... I eneteres my kids from school in the first half of the Autumn term, and then two weeks before the regional festival, got told they were over subscribed, and would we go to Rotherham? My HoD went to watch the regionals, and where were most of the kids from? You guessed it... Rotherham. I won't enter our lot again. They were so disappointed....
