Got a shock at the length of the sight reading

I know! I didn't even get a change to scan through it properly in the 30 seconds, let alone try out any of it!

Mine was grade 5 flute. I don't care what I get anymore, as long as it's a pass.

Have finished my grade 5 violing exam (thanks goodness)

Life can begin again..

Went ok, a few fluffs, hard to play when both hands are shaking.

Examinser was nice and chatted a bit which helped.

Got a shock at the length of the sight reading but the aural went ok so hopefully I've passed.

Don't really care any more, just glad it's over!

I've got my grade 5 viola exam in 3 hours and I'm panicking. I just hope I manage to get a pass. I'm so unprepared!

Pieces - ok, but not too ok with the piano cos I've only had one session with the accompanist
Scales - I think I know them, just hope I don't panic on the spot.
Aural - lack of practice, probably mess up.
Sight reading - not too bad unless I get something difficult. I could have done more practice.

I don't know what I've got myself into. I'm never doing this again! Next time, I'm not entering an exam unless I know I'm 100% prepared. My fault for not practicing properly and not having enough lessons.
maggiemay
Last minute panic is not unusual, Moon. Go and do your best - I 'm sure you'll be fine.
A few slow deep breaths while you are waiting to go in.

Of my pupils nearly pulled out just before the exam.

She's now jolly glad she didn't.
jazzycat
22 and a half hours to go... not that I'm nervous or anything eek.gif
bobziekins
Arrgrghhhhh, I'm getting butterflies all over again.

I'm at work with mum, work shadowing. Just got back from this other department of work, and my teacher has texted to say that she has the results sad.gif

We're going to phone when we get home. I don't want them. I want her to burn the comment sheet.

Oh god, I hope I pass unsure.gif

Good luck bobziekins.

I manage to survive my exam yesterday, but I was so nervous. I did everything extra fast.
Pieces - played it faster than usual and the poor accompanist had to catch up with me
Scales - I played them too fast and some of it was out of tune cos my fingers were shaky
Sight reading - I zoomed through it, I didn't play the long notes properly. I didn't expect the piece to be so long! Just wanted it over and done with
Aural - I was too nervous to concentrate, my mind just went blank. I guessed half of it cos I couldn't remember anything! I wasn't listening, was too busy panicking. I probably got it all wrong!

Just hope I can manage a pass. Next time I have to slow down! But I don't think there'll be a next time. Don't think I want to do exams again. sad.gif

Moon,

Best of luck for this - Hope you get the result that you are looking for.

When you do get your result - try and read the examiners comments carefully, and maybe discuss them with your tutor. I found the examiner's comments quite useful.

Post-Exam blues are terrible (OK maybe not as bad as pre-exam worries!!!) - I always felt quite flat after the event and really didn't feel like playing again until I got the results.

Anyway all the best and good luck.

Kind Regards
Nigel

Cor Blimey! Just heard that I passed my G5 Clarinet 113 marks this afternoon. Not the best mark ever but a pass is a pass!
I thought I had failed having completely mashed up my scales and the sight reading, urrhhh. Thanks B13 you have served me well. Should I treat myself to a new clarinet.....?

I still need to do a lot more work on my sight-reading and aural, unfortunately the more practice I do on these, the worse I seem to get! sad.gif

Did my grade 5 clarinet yesterday. Major fluff in the Mendelssohn Spring Song - total embouchure failure, flurry of squeaks, stopped dead, exchanged glance of horror with accompanist, thought 'shall I burst into tears and run out of the room, or shall I just pick it up and carry on as if nothing's happened?' Chose the latter option, my lovely teacher picked up the accompaniment, and we finished with no further drama... maybe the nice examiner will give me credit for being totally shameless?

Frensham Pond went just as I would have wished. Scales, sight-reading, aural all fine. Study not too bad.

Had thought about upgrading my clarinet if I got a distinction, but think my money is safe in the bank now!

Best of luck for the result jazzycat. You can always treat yourself to a new clari, whatever happens. smile.gif

131 in grade 3 viola and I'm really surprised!!!

My pieces went extremely well but I seem to remember making an awful hash of the scales and sightreading - I'm really keen to see the marks sheet now.
