Thanks noodle! smile.gif

A 'vegetable' is a Cyrilla term to describe each degree of a scale (doh, re, me etc.) If I sing, say, a 're' instead of a 'doh', it means I've sung a wrong vegetable! laugh.gif

Hi Everybody. clarinet.gif

I passed my grade 6!!! woot.gif clap.gif

117, nearly a merit!!! party1.gif hurrah.gif

I can hardly believe it. I'm in complete shock.

Piece A = 24
Piece B = 27
Piece C = 23
Scales = 17.

Haven't had the full break down with comments yet, although I know my Aurals were a complete mess-up.

Good luck/well done to all, the wait is the 2nd hardest part.

Regards, Peter.

Cheers flossie and Barri. It's been a bit mad around here.

I finished my degree, went straight into a 3 week work placement at a secondary school so I haven't had much time to breathe over the past month.

I got a 2:2 in my degree (to be honest I wasn't expecting much more!!!)

Well done Kat. party2.gif There's lots of things you can do with a 2:2, and it really is a big achievement with the problems you've had. smile.gif I honestly think you've done just as well as (if not better than) some of my students who've just graduated with 1sts and 2:1s (there were some 2:2s as well - from students with 4 As at A-level). Being an older student brings a lot of additional pressures and challenges, and the set up of your course hasn't exactly made progress easy. wacko.gif

Does your secondary school placement mean that you're going to do a PGCE now? smile.gif

Passed my grade 3 piano with an unconfirmed 110. Given that I think I probably got about 5 for the aural, literally had shaking hands for the pieces and my scales were farcical (sp?!) to say the least, I am plenty happy with this party1.gif Now, hand me the wine highfive.gif

Congratulations to everyone for their results.

I've just found out that I passed Grade 5 viola (TG) with merit. biggrin.gif I'm very pleased with the result as it was my first viola exam.

I had a good lesson this evening going through new music. Lots of new lovely things to play!

Greeting from Malaysia.

I had my Grade 1 Piano this afternoon. It wasn't too bad but really can't wait to see what is my result.

And I love this forum. I found it a couple of days ago and it really gives me a lot of comfort and encouragement by knowing there are a group of music lover who started off late like me. biggrin.gif

I took grade 2 clarinet on 10th July and got the result (130 marks) on 20th. Is that a record - only 10 days wait? I took grade 3 yesterday and am expecting a safe, if unspectacular, pass.

Just before I went in there was another adult man in his early 30s went in for grade 3 piano. He was so nervous he could hardly play his pieces and I doubt very much if he passed. I am nearly 72 but have an LTCL performers diploma from many years ago, so luckily I have not been nervous for my first clarinet exams.

That's terrific news! You are a great pianist, Bev - you got higher marks for your Grade 3 than I did for mine (although I was only about 10 at the time, but what's that got to do with it laugh.gif )

Can we now do a piano duet together? Please?

So when and where do we celebrate???

Sorry to bring down the mood, but I failed Grade 5 theory. (Snivvle, sniff, sob, sob). Got text from violin teacher - I got 60%, which I'm furious with myself about because I made three really idiotic and completely avoidable mistakes as a result of panic, (as opposed to lack of knowledge), and if I'd not made two of them (or possibly even just one) I'd have passed. Can't sit Grade 8 till March now...grrrrrrrrrrrr

I'm a stupid girl.

Never mind, f_h; don't beat yourself up about it. thereThere.gif I'm sure you'll panic much less next time, and you've lots of time to consolidate your knowledge so that you don't make so many mistakes on the retake.

Although it's frustrating to fail at the time, sometimes the end result is that you learn the stuff better and remember it for longer, which can be of benefit. I bet you'll get well over the pass mark next time, and delaying the grade 8 may mean that you do better in that too. smile.gif

Sorry to hear your result false-harmonica. I'm still waiting for mine - and as the days go by I wonder more and more about if I misread questions or made silly mistakes.
For your next attempt really look at where you can pick up some easy marks (like writting out the scales) and make a little check list (in your head) of easy mistakes to make - like ascending instead of decending etc.
I think you can aim high in your G8 now though with an un-intentional delay you should be more prepared.

Very good points BerkshireMum and smd. Sorry about your disappointment false-harmonic - but you're not stupid, you just made some mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. Make good use of the extra time and all the best for your grade 8. thereThere.gif
