I have a query regarding the sustaining pedal in this piece. Would it be right to use the sustaining pedal in the opening 4 bar triplet section or should it be left without pedal. I personally prefer it with pedal but the pianist on the ABRSM recording does not seem to use the pedal here. What do others think?

I don't usually pedal it.

In a dry acoustic, pedalling the triplet and releasing on the staccato quaver works. Not in a warm acoustic, though.

I agree with PianoDoodler, who always seems to give very accurate, precise, well-informed advice. No pedal, or at most the merest touch in a very few tiny places.
