I was just wondering what a 'normal' amount is to add on to lessons if the teacher visits you (in their car)?

I know there are a lot of details that need to be answered so I'll just give two generic situations;

Journey of 10 minutes/5 miles (x2)

Journey of 25/30 minutes 10 miles (x2)

Also would you change your charges if the pupil asked you for 1 hour or longer (instead of 30 mins)

Is there anysite where you can work it out????!

I tend to have a base rate and then add my travel on top of that. So a 30 min lessons costs more than an hour lesson.

So you always charge travel regardless of in the pupil pays for an hour or half an hour?

How do teachers work out their travel charges? (assuming it is not as straight forward as using public transport)

My teacher just charges a flat £3 per lesson extra if she comes to you.

Easy!

Mind you it's easier if you're in a city as most of the journeys won't be very far

Yup I always charge. Basically means than they got more value for money for spending an hour with me (which I tend to prefer too)

I worked out my petrol calculations (so how much it cost me to travel to and from them) and then looked at all the areas around me. So if someone says to me they live in xxxxx then I look at my price list and quote them a price. I also charge for the time it takes to travel. The other thing I do is try and group students together in areas...it's all kinda balanced for me at the moment.
