I found it rather depressing, actually...is that all we're there for, to be a twenty four hour list of instructions? I liked the one that woman did with the dads' equivalent song rather better, I will confess. here

No thats not all we are there for but its very very real. If you slack off the discipline you are considered a lazy/bomenian mum and doesnt the general public say "I blame the parents" happy.gif

But as I always say it does get better. I love my kids to pieces now they are 'nearly' all grown up. I love meeting my daughter in town for lunch and shopping. I love it when my son brings me a cup of tea in the study and then hangs around for a real chat about an exhibition. I love going to concerts with my eldest and discussing the intricacies of the performances after and so much more. They were fun sometimes when they were young, but now they are adults they are an absolute pleasure.

And no their father was never an "ask your mum" person, its always been "Your mum an I have discussed it and your mum thinks... so..." biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

No, it's not all we're there for, but it did strike a chord with me and I thought it absolutely hilarious! Even though my two boys are adults now, it seems you don't stop parenting, but instead of homework and being grounded, it's university modules and being hospitalised (albeit briefly, thankfully) after being assaulted on the street. We bring them up the best we can, and hope that it's enough.

Once a parent, always a parent, it seems. And just now we are going through an especially painful time with one of them. So thanks, hello_cello, for brightening my day. I laughed out loud.

Well I showed it to my elder son just now. He gave me a massive hug at the end of it and said he thought it was brilliant smile.gif

I'm sorry that you too are going through a painful time - you're not alone on that one. Interestingly though when I showed the clip to my offspring, they voiced similar opinions to mine - that at best the humour is bittersweet, and that it can end up no longer being funny that mums find themselves endlessly repeating things. I was actually thankful to be able to count up a good number of the items I would never say in that list too.
The comment regarding parenthood never ending is also one I can very much identify with, both as a parent and of course as the offspring of my own parents.
