I met someone who was doing that. They seemed ok with it- Rock music background (guitar) not classical. The spent a few days being taught a month and then sessions in a local environment. This turned out to be working with kids who left school wihtout any GCSEs but wanted to be in a rock band. The Access course was geared towards teaching but not in the way that most of these kids had experienced and failed to engage with.

From what they said, the course didnt seem to involved that much, and assignments were fairly straight forward- or allowed to be tweaked and resubmitted a few times.

This is only what I have heard from someone doing it. Took them a year (providing they finished it- onky met once last year).

Maybe talk to them and ask for a taster session- most places offer you a 'try before you buy' taster.

Good luck!

Hi and thankyou!

It does sound rather interesting, though I am a classical musician, might not be suitable, not sure!

Do you get some type of work placement relevent to your area of music, I wonder??

Will speak to them and see if I can arrange a taster session. smile.gif

Thanks for your help,
Nicia
