Like SMArt, or the animal programs.

They could focus on a new instrument every week, and invite children in who play the instrument to talk about it

and have performances from pros or children in the studio.

There used to be an excellent programme on Radio 3 called Making Tracks which alas went by the wayside some years ago.

Back on topic : something I've mentioned before on this forum is the 1980s TV programme 'Atarah's Music', presented by flautist Atarah Ben-Tovim, which took one orchestral musical instrument each week, and based a whole programme around it, including a story, a performance and suchlike.

I only remember the one character : unsurprisingly, it was the clarinet. It was called Clarence.

I don't think this programme has ever been put on video/DVD, perhaps it's time we asked ITV

I wish there'd have been a music programme on when I was a kid! In fact if there was one on now I'd probably watch it anyway!
