We are going to the Bridgewater Hall on Saturday to hear a Haydn programme played by the Manchester Camerata.
They are playing the piece that we played at the Friends' Orchestra last month so it will be interesting to hear that in particular.

I'm going to see the Chamber Orchestra of Europe at the Festival Hall tomorrow night, playing Ravel, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn. I booked on spec earlier this week as I needed a bolt-hole. No 3 son has his 18th birthday party tomorrow. ph34r.gif
The Old Lady

I'm seeing Tim Minchin in Tunbridge Wells in October, can't wait! biggrin.gif

I went to the "Star Wars - A Musical Journey" concert at the O2 in April, that was absolutely fantastic, also went to the "LSO - A Life in Film" at the Barbican a week before that.

I've also been to see Paul Weller this year - he was great, the roof flew off when "A Town Called Malice" kicked off biggrin.gif

Am I the only one that keeps all concert tickets for nostalgia/souvenirs?

The Ravel and Shostakovich were great. The pianist, Denis Matsuev, was superb and did two encores, the second one being a piano arrangement of In the Hall of the Mountain King. Hilarious. biggrin.gif

The principal oboist flung himself around so much that I thought he was going to bang heads with the principal flautist who was doing likewise. laugh.gif I like sitting in the choir - you get a great view for a tiny amount of money. And as a flautist I'm used to hearing the orchestra from the back.

If listening to music on headphones (ear buds) I've found that I find it less disturbing to swap left and right. It took me an age when listening to a CD I'd played for to work out that what was making it sound wrong was the reversal of the stereo image from my usual perspective.
