Just been watching everyone play their grade pieces on youtube. Absolutely fantastic stuff, take a look. You will very quickly stumble upon the kids, youngest was 3. THREE! Unbelievable. Also saw a 5 year old perform Fur Elise. Beautiful.

I'm learning grade 1 and loving it. I had quick look at some of the later grades and saw a young guy perform top cat. vv cool! I can't wait.

If you're having a difficult day and just can't get that piece right, take a look at youtube. Truly inspirational.

I was a bit confused by some of those on the site/cd... for example, the non-legato part of Gavot is played almost staccato in left hand? It does say Crotchets may be lightly detached at the bottom but... hum.

I don't think looking at youtube is a good idea though in case you pick up errors from other people without noticing it wink.gif

I have that book and am trying to learn TC for fun smile.gif It's easy to start with but then I go a bit awry... I'm probably pushing it a bit trying to learn that but I'll bug my teacher to help me. It's a clever bit of music. I'm trying to learn so much different stuff at the moment it's crazy.. I'm 1/3rd to 3/4 of the way through doing about 7 pieces on top of all the Grade 1 pieces at the moment ohmy.gif I'm a nightmare... have finished 2 recently though.

Hi solari

That's a lot of stuff you're taking on; I struggle to fit in the grade 1 stuff let alone trying anything new.

Thanks for pointing out the note on crotchets in Gavot. I had missed this. Does 'lightly detached' mean veering towards staccato? I guess they should be detached since it's not legato. I thought additional direction was supposed to help!

Lightly detached is inbetween legato and staccato - leave a gap between the notes, but don't make the notes as short as you would for staccato smile.gif

Thanks Carol - I shall try to lightly detach my fingers the next time I play gavot.

Just hope I can put them together again afterwards.

Boom boom!

Sorry.

I can get lost searching for hours at little kids who are amazing at piano. Then I get lost into flautists. Then violinists. Just to point a few favourites out...
