Ok, i had my french horn grade 5 today. I have worked so hard this year.

But i can't do the exam. I was sweating really badly and i messed everything up.

I completely [insert nicer word in here] up all my scales, and sight reading, mispitching EVERYTHING!!
My pieces were so-so, but laden with mistakes.

Ear tests perfect ;]

However i'm sooo annoyed because i could play perfectly in the warm up!!

I know it was all down to nerves cause i was sweating like crazy during the exam (The horn nearly slipped out of my hand!!) This is my first french horn exam i've done.

I know that the examiner could tell i was really nervous, but does this usually effect how they mark the exams?
And how long does it take for them to post me out the results? i've never done an ABRSM exam before.

I'm so worried!!

thereThere.gif Relax, fabnt! It's too late to worry now. Lots of people feel their exam has gone really badly, but often they're agreeably surprised when the result arrives.

The effects of nerves are extremely annoying, but I'm sure you are focussing on your mistakes too much, and forgetting all the bits which went well. Many people are nervous in practical exams, and the examiners do try to allow for this to some extent.

As to results, are you in the UK? If so, you should get them in 2 or 3 weeks time. I hope you've done really well. smile.gif
all ears
Best of luck with the wait!

If you were confident about your pieces before the exam, rather than awaiting the arrival of the Last-Minute Good Fairy, then you almost certainly did better than you think, no matter how many mistakes you remember.

And if not...you still want to play the French Horn, don't you? What's an exam, compared to that!
