The wonderful Aurin Girls' Choir from the Kodály School in Kecskemét, Hungary, are coming over for their annual tour shortly. They are aged between 14 and 19 and are quite stunning.

They don't have any money and end up sleeping on floors for the duration sad.gif so do please go and hear them and support them if you get the chance!

~ 21st June ~ St. Paul's, Shepley, Huddersfield ~ 7.30pm
~ 23rd June ~ Wakefield Cathedral ~ 1pm
~ 23rd June ~ Christchurch, New Mill, Holmfirth ~ 7.30pm
~ 25th June ~ Lancaster Priory ~ 7pm
~ 27th June ~ Holy Trinity Church, Skipton ~ 7.30pm

Highly recommended - I was fortunate enough to hear this choir on their last visit.

It's in the diary - thanks C !

That seems crazy! How come there's no sponsorship arranged to at least put them up in a hostel or B&B?
Cyrilla
I'm not sure, Solari.

Hungarians are not rich at the best of times and they come over on a shoestring - eat in McDonald's and sleep wherever they can.

At the moment we're desperately trying to find beds for them during their South London stay... sad.gif

There are about 40 girls and about 6 adult staff.

Solari
Blimey, you'd think it'd make a bit more sense to have accomodation arranged beforehand, but as you say, they come over on a shoestring so probably don't expect much. Kudos to them but to me it's boggling ohmy.gif

That is a lot of beds! No sort of deal do-able with a Holiday Inn or something? Perhaps writing off to some of the chains could be in order to see if they could do something cheap and perhaps fund the rest with some sort of collection?
Cyrilla
Mmmm, thanks for the thoughts, Solari...will pass them to the person who organises the concerts.

I wonder if, once you know their dates for next year, whether it's worth seeking sponsorship from somewhere? smile.gif
Cyrilla
Mmm, yes...but I wouldn't have the first clue how to go about doing this!

Any ideas/advice, anyone???

Tonight !

we met to do a recording last night (the home choir, I mean!) and one of our teenage basses had heard the girls in rehearsal sometime this week - he was totally inspired by them.
