Anyone moving to stay in the uni halls?
I am, though i'm a wee bit scared about being money. I think SAAS has mucked up my bursary and loan that i'm meant to get. I think they've put me through as staying at home rather than staying at home.
I'm away to give them a wee phone and see whats happening.

How did you get on?
SAAS were evil to me when I was studying in Scotland, but have been amazing this year when I've had way more to sort out cos I'm moving to England. So I'd better not criticise them too much, although I do know how you must feel, Steve!

I'm in Wales so had the Welsh student finance people and it took about a fortnight, but it might vary from place to place. Although i'm sure it will be sorted ready for when you start your course.

i do music courses through the open uni. i am towards the end of the course i am doing this year "MUSIC TECHNOLOGY" this sept i start "from composition to performance" i recommend the open uni to everyone its fantastic if you need to work at the same time, it is however very hard to study and work full time. so you need really want to do it.. these courses i am doing build up to a ba honours open degree which is tailored to your own requirements,. in otherwords its a degree made up of what you want.

I did mine about two months ago, thought it had all gone through fine, no problems with the website and then got letters saying I hadn't actually applied for any money and blah blah blah, so have had to get in touch with them again and they've sent me even more forms to fill out because they've messed it up!! An absolute nightmare!
Think you should be ok, I heard back within a few weeks...it just wasn't right!

I'm heading off to Aberdeen in September to do a BMus

Cannot wait!!
My SAAS thing was all fine, it was really confusing to fill in though. It came through in about 4 or 5 days, I think. Hope yours gets sorted!

How is everyone feeling about results? or have they just decided to forget about them and not talk about them? I'm getting nervous randomly now and again.

Hmm... the benefits of having a gap year having got all your grades a year in advance...

Ditto unconditional offers.

You'll all be fine though.

Thats terrible Chev, I could barely manage an exam first time round, never mind the second. Although I am a little peeved with the date being so late, but it would have fell on my birthday if they had kept it at the usual spot. So yay on that point.

Yeh, and considering I'm off to do a Music degree, and the results that were lost were for Human Biology, it was even more frustrating!! And then I had to reapply to unis, and cancel my finance and all of that, all withut knowing my result...an utter nightmare! Nevermind eh, better luck this time!

Yeh, it's horrid that they've moved it back a week...more waiting

I'm sure it will all be fine, mind you if they didn't drag it out sooooo much I don't think anyone would be so nervous. The IB candidates already know their grades and if they are getting into uni, how unfair.
ChevvyChev
Jul 11 2009, 02:19 PM
I know, it's not fair is it. That and knowing that the uni's get our results four days before we do makes me really nervous

I think it's a lack of control thing!
piano*cello*sax*boy
Jul 11 2009, 11:33 PM
Yes, I really want to know who came up with these ideas about people knowing our grades before us, mind you, you can log onto ucas tracking at midnight of the 20th to see if you have got in, that is if the site hasn't crashed, as i know it has b4 when my friend tried.
ChevvyChev
Jul 11 2009, 11:34 PM
I don't think I've ever heard of the site going back live at midnight

certainly didn't last year or the year before
piano*cello*sax*boy
Jul 12 2009, 10:42 AM
I'm sure it does, it won't tell you your grades just accepted or declined. hmmm.
ChevvyChev
Jul 12 2009, 08:13 PM
Nope, last year it was taken down a few days before, and didn't go live again until about 6.30/7am, I spent all night clicking refresh! And it definitely didn't the year before because I sat up with some friends who were waiting for theirs to come through. They usually don't specify a time, they just say whenever they're ready, although I admit I haven't checked the details for this year yet.
It is nice when you log in and it says "Congratulations your offer at *firm or insurance university here* has been accepted!* though

Being nosey now, how come your signature says your going to be a full time music student again?
ChevvyChev
Jul 12 2009, 09:51 PM
Because of complications with my health problems in my first year of college, I had to drop some of my A-levels and then pick them up the following years...so I spread them out over 3 years instead of two...so for my first year I did Music and Advanced Music and, and then second year I did those plus Psychology and Human Biology and then finished those in my 3rd...so then adding in having to wait this year, it's been two years since I did any "classroom" study of music, so I can't wait to be back doing it full time like my first year of college

EDIT: sorry, I'm not sure if that makes sense or if it's just a load of waffle!
piano*cello*sax*boy
Jul 12 2009, 09:55 PM
I get what you mean in how you will be studying music again, it is a shame that you have had to wait. Although I am sure it will be worth it. What's your principal study going to be?
ChevvyChev
Jul 12 2009, 10:21 PM

Flute, but not entirely sure how much performance I want to do at the moment

how about you?
piano*cello*sax*boy
Jul 13 2009, 05:43 PM
Piano, I want to do quite a bit of performance first year, and then see what happens after that. Although I am looking forward to trying some new things like orchestration.
